Lord Lloyd and the Decline of the British Empire, by John Charmley

Regular price $6.99

Lord Lloyd's name may not be immediately familiar, although it appears in most biographies and histories of the 1920s and 1930s: as a friend of Lawrence of Arabia and of Churchill; as the governor of Bombay who locked up Ghandi and as the High Commissioner in Egypt who sent gunboats to Alexandria; as a diehard imperialist who shared the wilderness years with Churchill and then came to power in 1940- only to die of a rare blood disorder the following year; and as the only Cabinet Minister to fly on a bombing raid over Germany.

Used. Good condition. Some wear and tear. Small rip on the top of the dust jacket. Very minor shelf wear to the bottom of the book. Price marked in pencil.
